PADI Open Water Certification

PADI Open Water Diver is the first level of scuba diving certification offered by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). It is a globally recognized certification that allows divers to explore underwater environments safely.

Here’s a breakdown of what the course typically involves:

  1. Theory/Knowledge Development: The course begins with learning about the principles of scuba diving, including understanding the physics and physiology of diving, the equipment used, and safety practices. This can be done through online study, a textbook, or in-person classes.

  2. Confined Water Training: After completing the theory section, you’ll practice essential scuba skills in a controlled, shallow water environment (like a pool). This ensures you’re comfortable with the equipment and basic underwater techniques before heading into open water.

  3. Open Water Dives: The final part of the course involves completing at least four open water dives (typically in an ocean or lake). During these dives, you’ll apply the skills you’ve learned and demonstrate your ability to dive safely under the supervision of your instructor.

Once completed, you'll receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification, which allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) and dive anywhere in the world, as long as you follow safe diving practices.

This is the Confined Water portion of the Open Water Diver Certification.  You need to have all of the on-line course work completed before your confined water class date.  We must have a completed Medical Waiver from you before your confined water class date, (either the on-line form, or a paper form from the dive shop).  Also you will need to purchase your personal required items (mask, snorkel, boots, fins, and an SMB) before the start of your scheduled class.

If you cannot make the open water sessions when we go Gilboa Quarry, and have an up-coming trip, you can finish up your Open Water Check-out Dives while on vacation if you choose to do so. The "Referral Diver Program" is $515.00.  You still do the online and confined water pool sessions with us, but inish up at your destination somewhere else.
